A repeat triumph at the Great Taste awards

We’re especially proud today to bring news that our Morcon Iberico Bellota has received a two-star award at the 2015 Great Taste Awards. This follows on from our success at last year’s event.

Some of the comments received from the judges:

Fantastic texture, good colour, rustic and perfectly seasoned. The fat is rich and soft, the meat tender and flavourful.

Lovely spicy paprika on the nose. Very tender and a lovely level of spicing coming through. Moist, meltingly tender flavoursome and balanced.

Wonderful, long complex flavour.

There is a great paprika colour to this rustic chorizo. We found a deal of interest in the flavour with an easy texture to the bite. There was a hint of a ‘cheesy’ character in the gentle, almost light, paprika spicing.

The Great Taste Awards bring together over 400 the world’s most finely-tuned, demanding palates – belonging to food critics, celebrated chefs, food journalists, members of the Women’s Institute, and farmers amongst others – to participate in the world’s largest blind-taste tests. To achieve a one-star award is a real honour, but to receive a two-star award for the second consecutive year makes us seriously proud.

Rainsborough Square Artisan Food Market

This month, to celebrate Fulham’s rich foodie history, the Rainsborough Square Fulham Artisan Food Market will take place on Saturday 24 January – for one day only – in a smart new residential square in Farm Lane, just a short walk from Fulham Broadway.

Iberian Deli triumphs at the 2014 Great Taste awards

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for speciality food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’.

Here at Iberian Deli we are extremely proud to announce that our Spanish Ham picked up a two-star award at the 2014 Great Taste. Following what is the world’s largest blind-tasted food awards, where taste trumps fancy packaging and reputation, our Cárdeno Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (Acorn-Fed Iberico Ham) is now able to proudly carry the little gold and black Great Taste logo.

Let the Magic Begin at Camberwell

One of the stops on our Christmas Market tour this festive season is at the Camberwell Christmas Market. We’ll have a selection of fine Spanish gourmet ham available for sale, including our limited-production chorizo, lomo and salchichon.

Beautiful Extremadura

A Stunning Environment

T he Iberian pig has been part of the landscape of Extremadura since ancient times. The Romans knew about the exceptional qualities of the Hispania hams. The farming traditions have lasted for centuries, allowing for a maintained, preserved and even enhanced breed which is a real genetic treasure.

Extremadura is the best location for rearing pigs, with nearly a million hectares of Dehesa – one of the best preserved ecosystems in Europe. The Dehesa is an agroforestal system that permits a balanced and non-abusive method of farming; an extensive natural environment combining pastureland and woodland where livestock, such as the Ibérico pig, the Merino sheep and Retinto cattle, live together with other wild species.

The Iberian pig performs the miracle of transforming the pasture and acorns it feeds upon into one of the healthiest and most exquisite natural products: Ibérico ham.

‘Ecological’ and ‘sustainability’ are buzz-words in these modern times, but in beautiful Extremadura it’s been the way of life for hundreds of years.
